Nearly 55,000 families have so far been harmed by the rains, with their possessions and shelters destroyed.

Heavy storms over the last seven days have compounded the precarious circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as reported by humanitarian agencies.

"Awful" Weather Poses Severe Dangers

A representative described the weather overnight as "horrendous", with downpours so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the terrain.

"The recent weather was truly difficult for the residents. The storms were so intense... And the gusts were so forceful," stated the spokesperson.

There is extreme worry that children residing in tents in soaked clothing will contract hypothermia and other illnesses.

Casualties and Widespread Damage

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in building collapses triggered by the severe weather.

Other reports suggest a increased fatality count. Spokespeople reported that numerous residential buildings had collapsed completely and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces inundated.
  • Many people compelled to move once more.

Aid Operations Deemed Not Enough

Groups have increased shipments of tarpaulins, blankets and clothes since the halt in hostilities commenced, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to bring in that relief and to distribute it, but the magnitude of the needs is so enormous that we are faced with a great number of individuals and minors who are truly enduring hardship each evening," stated one representative.

Long-Term Issues and Agreement Terms

The next stage of the ceasefire includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of personnel, and other provisions.

Relief groups have highlighted the necessity for "increased and sustained aid to address immediate and future requirements."

The hostilities was sparked by an assault in late 2023. Following campaigns have caused a substantial number of casualties in the territory, as per health ministry data.
