Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Sports Star Award

Announced recently

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The trio have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a unprecedented innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The finalists were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The 2025 recipient will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.

The event will be aired from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She was introduced as a substitute to score crucial late equalisers in both the knockout stage games.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this award is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for the honour once more is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
