The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing violence and mayhem with similar glee, all while weaving captivating, socially charged tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose creations have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a new backdrop and ensemble in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady trust and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of society through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, visionary style to the television.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
