Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
