Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
