Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
